TRUMBULL COUNTY Niles man sentenced to prison in rape case

The victim requested the maximum term be given.
WARREN -- A 20-year-old Niles man has been sentenced to five years in prison for raping a city woman last month.
Anthony Vogle of Maple Street pleaded guilty last month to charges of rape, aggravated robbery and felonious assault. He was sentenced Monday by Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to five years on each charge. The sentences will be served simultaneously.
The victim asked the judge for the maximum term.
She told the judge that since the attack, her doctor has placed her on antidepressant medication. She said her "two babies" were in the living room when she was raped.
Sarah Kovoor, assistant prosecutor, said Vogle could have faced up to 28 years. In exchange for his guilty pleas, the prosecution agreed to dismiss charges of kidnapping and aggravated burglary.
About the case: Police said Vogle and Booker Jones, 17, of North River Road, Howland, forced their way into the woman's South Project Street home around 3 a.m. May 21. The woman did not know her attackers.
Kovoor said Vogle threatened the woman with a knife, stole her cellular telephone and punched her in the face.
Jones is facing delinquency charges in juvenile court of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and rape, but the prosecutor in that case, Sean O' Brien, is asking to have Booker tried as an adult.
He expects a hearing in the next few weeks to determine Booker's status.
