Salem board gives Brobeck a raise

SALEM -- Schools Superintendent Dr. David Brobeck is receiving a pay raise after a favorable annual review from the school board.
The panel, meeting Monday, agreed to boost Brobeck's yearly salary from $74,000 to $76,220.
In other matters, the board laid off general business teacher Craig Readshaw because enrollment in that course has dropped from about 80 students last year to about 30 for the coming school year. Brobeck said this morning that he's uncertain why enrollment plunged.
An instructor who teaches computer classes will teach general business along with her computer classes, Brobeck said.
