GIRARD -- Registration is under way for kindergarten through grade eight religious studies at St. Rose Church.
Forms for new pupils at all grade levels are available in the Religious Resource Center, Room 37 of the old school building, at the church rectory, 48 E. Main St.
A copy of the baptismal certificate is needed for children not baptized at St. Rose. The kindergarten class is limited to 12 students.

Tuition for St. Rose School pupils, meanwhile, is payable in full by Aug. 1. Tuition can be mailed to the school or paid in person at the rectory when the school office is closed.
Family handbooks and all forms will be available for parents to pick up after Mass in the lower church the weekend of Aug. 4-5.
Storytelling workshop
CHAMPION -- A storytelling workshop for kids entering kindergarten and first grade will be at Kent State Trumbull Campus next week.
Created with a partnership of OhioReads and the Retired Teachers of Trumbull County, the one-hour daily sessions will include crafts, puppets and refreshments.
The four-day workshop runs from 11 a.m. to noon, July 30-Aug. 2. in the Workforce Development and Continuing Studies Center at KSU Trumbull.

Austintown trustees
AUSTINTOWN -- Township trustees voted Monday to declare 16 properties in various township locations a public nuisance because of high grass, which, in some cases, is as high as three feet.
The property owners will receive notices of the declaration and have seven days to mow the grass, or else the township will have it mowed for them and assess the mowing cost on their property taxes, Trustee David Ditzler said.
Mark Makar or Austintown and James Evans of Mineral Ridge were sworn in as unpaid reserve police officers. Trustee Chairman Jeff Groat announced that the township has received notice that McDonald's on Kirk Road will soon move to New and Raccoon roads.
Fatigue and anemia
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two doctors will discuss fatigue and anemia Wednesday at a program at Fellows Riverside Gardens.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., hematology and oncology specialists Drs. Sudershan K. Garg and Antoine Chahine will give lectures, followed by a question-and-answer session, dinner and a visit to the rose gardens.

Facing drug charges
FARRELL, Pa. -- A Sharon man charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver remained in Mercer County Jail today in lieu of $50,000 bond, while his companion remained free on a $5,000 bond.
Southwest Mercer County Regional Police arrested Roshon Pinkins, 23, Stambaugh Avenue, and Emilio Craig, 29, of Lee Avenue, Sharon, around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Craig, who was released on $5,000 bond, was charged with possession of stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property and reckless endangerment.
Police said they stopped the vehicle the two men were traveling in along Union Street in Farrell after hearing gunshots in the area. They said Pinkins had 7.4 grams of crack cocaine and Craig had a 9 mm handgun, which had been reported stolen in Sharon.
The men were arraigned before District Justice James McMahon on Monday. A preliminary hearing for Pinkins has been set for 11:30 p.m. Aug. 1. A preliminary hearing for Craig has not been scheduled.
Coins stolen from home
SALEM -- Coins taken from a residence on the 1400 block of Benton Road are valued at about $1,200, Perry Township Police said this morning. The theft from the home was reported this weekend. A report on the crime didn't indicate if the house was broken into.
