HUBBARD -- The board of education has hired Colleen Kennedy as an English teacher and Dennis Mathews as an assistant varsity football coach.
Administrators made several other staff changes at Monday's board meeting.
They accepted the resignations of Dorothy Gessler, Eloise Anita McCartney Liu and Tamara Sinn, while approving a one-year unpaid leave for Jeanne Fairbanks and maternity leave for Melissa Durse.
Additionally, they approved two-year limited contracts for Eva Helmick as educational aide at the high school and Janet Easton as educational aide for the wheelchair bus at $9.67 per hour.
Legal hot line: The board also approved participation for next year in the Ohio School Legal Hotline at a cost of $2,150 and the Trumbull Technical Academy at $2,500.
Superintendent James Herrholtz said he is researching a way to get a new scoreboard for the football field.
The scoreboard would be at no cost to the school system by displaying paid advertisements rented in five-year blocks.
Board president Judy Montgomery said all staffing is done, the master schedule is complete and the only change is that the high school would drop one class period resulting in six 52-minute periods.
The board approved a salary increase for the Hubbard Community Pool evening receptionist from $6.25 per hour to $8 per hour and set the lifeguard Instructor's pay at $15 per hour.
Officials also approved Donna Leet to serve on the Hubbard Public Library Board and approved anticipated activity budgets for high school extracurricular groups.
