God creates souls, not research scientists

Once again Cal Thomas addresses an issue, stem cell research, by poisoning the atmosphere with rantings about Nazis etc. The truth is he is closer to Nazism than the people he accuses with his diatribes bordering on hysteria, his distortions of facts and trying to seize the moral high ground by blame and guilt. This is the very essence of the Nazi approach.
What can you say about a man who quotes the Bible and yet has never ever supported peace? Who always uses the words of the scriptures to foment conflict, hatred and self-righteousness. I would say that man is a fanatic.
The doctors and scientists who are pursuing stem-cell research are not Nazis. They are dedicated individuals who want to save lives. There is great promise in this research and a great deal of unnecessary suffering can be alleviated or entirely eliminated. It is both absurd and hypocritical that real living people are made to suffer so that the fanatics can save the trillions of "potential" humans of their frenzied imaginings. There are no human beings in stem cells. This idea stems from the erroneous belief that a spiritual being, i.e. a soul, can be created from a purely physical process. No soul was ever created in the sex act. Only God can create souls and they exist already in Him. The sex act merely opens the gateway to physical incarnation on this plane.
The Nazis never had it so good as the so-called pro-lifers. If only they had thought of it, they could have been destroying millions of real lives while claiming to be trying to save the imaginary ones. The greatest absurdity is that these people are doing this in the name of God who, unlike them, is good and loving.

Disrespect for the flag is disrespect for the nation

It is rather ironic that the Saturday, July 21, Vindicator editorial discusses our American flag. Last night, Friday, I attended a professional boxing event at the Canton civic center.
As we know, at all sporting events the national anthem is played and the fans are asked to rise. Much to my surprise, in my section of the arena, there were two fans in front of me and four fans behind me who did not rise but rather decided to disrespect our county and continued to sit down during the playing of our national anthem.
These were the same people who were able to get out of their seats to cheer their favorite boxer or were able to go to the concession stands or restrooms.
I was insulted by this incident. These so-called Americans also insulted the entire country and conveyed to me they are of little intelligence. We are all Americans -- not Caucasians, Afro-Americans or any other race. If they have such disrespect for our country, they also show disrespect for themselves.
Perhaps if we all made an effort to show each other respect we would, as Americans, have a better place to live.
You tell me what other country is better than the U.S.A.?

Random act of kindness, a surprise anniversary gift

Many, many thanks are due the generous couple who dined Saturday night, July 14, at Don Pablo's Restaurant and who picked up our dinner check. We were celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary and never in our entire lives have we had such an experience. It's something we will never forget. Such kindness to utter strangers. Blessings to them both.
