STRUTHERS -- Kimberly M. Stocker of Fifth Street, Poland, pleaded no contest today to three building code violations pertaining to her Spring Street apartment complex before Acting Judge Michael L. Hoza in Struthers Municipal Court.
The judge found her guilty and ordered her to pay $200 plus court costs for not having an occupancy permit and for exterior property violations.
Stocker, 41, also has 120 days to make the necessary repairs to the building's roof and gutters.
The judge dismissed another building code violation charge for having garbage around the exterior of the property. But she must pay $3,800 in restitution to the city, which cleaned up the garbage.
Man faces charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 21-year-old man was arrested at St. Elizabeth Health Center early Sunday after fighting with paramedics and a Humility of Mary Health Partners security officer.
He was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated, resisting arrest and failure to comply.
Police say the man rode to St. E's with paramedics who were tending to his 19-year-old live-in girlfriend. The woman was drunk and had been picked up from a graduation party on Pembrook Road in Austintown, police said.
When they arrived at St. E's, the paramedics told the man he could not go into the emergency room. The man grabbed and bruised a paramedic and kicked in an ambulance console before running into the emergency room, reports say.
He was chased down and detained by HHMP security. Security officers told police that the man struggled while they were trying to detain him.
Police catch fugitives
AUSTINTOWN -- Three teens who escaped from Lincoln Place/Compass Residential Center for Youth were caught by police Sunday night on Interstate 80.
Police say they found the three boys, two age 15 and one 17, walking west on I-80 near milepost 222 around 9:20 p.m. Sunday night. The boys said they had been left behind at state Route 46 by a family heading to Cleveland.
The boys were taken to the Austintown police station, and their parents were called. The parents told police the boys were residents of Lincoln Place. Police could not reach Lincoln Place officials, so the boys were taken to the justice center.
Burger King theft
YOUNGSTOWN -- A former Burger King employee who returned to work for his last paycheck left with an extra $105, police said.
The money was stolen from an open cash register around 4:16 p.m. Sunday.
Police said an employee working the West Midlothian Boulevard store's register tried to grab the money from the 22-year-old Youngstown man, who was fired last week.
The man fled but not before being caught on a video, which is now in police custody.
7 caught at checkpoint
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County deputy sheriffs arrested seven people on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol during a DUI checkpoint Friday on Market Street near Judson Avenue.
Police stopped 303 vehicles out of 903 that went through the checkpoint.
They also issued 19 speeding citations, arrested one person on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon, two on felony warrants, two on a charge of carrying open containers and two on marijuana charges.
A stolen vehicle was also recovered, but police said the suspect got away.
