Zlotnicks honored at brunch for 50th anniversary



YOUNGSTOWN -- Judge and Mrs. Julius A. Zlotnick of Youngstown were honored July 1 at a champagne brunch at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary.
The festivities began June 30 with a party at the couple's home to welcome out-of-town relatives and friends.
Plans for the celebration were made by the couple's children and their spouses, Atty. Howard and Maggie Zlotnick of Las Vegas, Ellen Zlotnick of Chicago, and Dr. Eric and Laurel Chevlen of Youngstown.
Mr. Zlotnick and the former Helen Katz were married July 1, 1951, in Baltimore. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was as assistant prosecutor in Mahoning County for 13 years, then served as a Mahoning County Court judge for 13 years. He recently retired from the Mahoning County Bar Association, having been a lawyer in the area for over 50 years.
Mrs. Zlotnick is a graduate of Goucher College with a degree in English literature. She taught English at Boardman High School and later worked as a health educator and mental-health counselor.
