Zalkas feted at dinner for golden jubilee

YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Zalka of 734 Pasadena Ave. were honored July 21 at a Mass at Sts. Cyril & amp; Methodius Church on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
A dinner followed at Rachel's in Boardman. Hosts were the couple's children, Mary Ann Zalka of Boardman, Patricia Zalka of Boardman, Eugene Zalka of Youngstown, Carolyn Zalka of Boardman and David Zalka of Youngstown.
Mr. Zalka and the former Helen Kanik were married June 9, 1951, at Sts. Cyril & amp; Methodius Church, where they are members of the Altar and Rosary Society and Infant of Prague Society.
He served in the U.S. Navy and is retired from Wean United, where he was a welder.
Mrs. Zalka was an aide for the Youngstown City Schools until her retirement. She is a member of the church senior citizens' group.
