New experiences: One way to encourage your family to try new things is to let your kids take the lead. Create an activity jar and take turns drawing activities to try.Car rides: If you are driving with another family, take walkie-talkies with you for communicating between cars.Epiphanies: Special places often inspire special activities. Try to build in a little flexible time.Crowds: Wear matching brightly colored hats or t-shirts. Always set a meeting place in case someone gets lost. Point out to little ones the correct person, by uniform or location, to ask for help if they get lost.Seasons: One of the best reasons to live in Northeast Ohio is the dramatic season changes. It's also a perfect reason to set up an annual celebration.Siblings: Make time for whole-family activities as well as times for some one-on-one interaction. For reluctant participants, set up days when friends are also invited.Age ranges: When trying to accommodate different ages and interests, negotiate a trade: 15 minutes of one activity for 15 minutes of another. (This works for adults, too.)
