Michael's 'Way'
LAS VEGAS -- Michael Jackson is returning to the big screen, starring in and producing his first animated feature.
In "The Way of the Unicorn, The Endangered One," Jackson will do the voice of Sailor, an orphan who works with a lonely rich girl and a group of endangered animals to save the planet.
Pre-production on the $75 million film is scheduled to begin next month, said Dennis W. Peterson, chief executive officer of Las Vegas-based Big International Group of Entertainment Inc. The movie could be in theaters nationwide in spring 2003.
"This is the new Michael Jackson, the movie actor and producer," said Peterson, Jackson's co-executive producer. "This is Michael's future and he wants to devote his energies to it."
Jackson, 42, last appeared in a theatrical release in the 1978 musical "The Wiz" with Diana Ross. His 3-D film "Captain Eo" appeared at Disneyland and Disney World for 10 years starting in 1986.
MTV's 'Becoming'
NEW YORK -- MTV is planning a second round of episodes of its new documentary show "Becoming," in which fans "become" their favorite musicians.
The cable channel picks people up in a limousine, gives them makeovers, teaches them choreography and lets them re-create their favorite videos. Cameras capture the transformation along the way, then MTV shows the finished product.
Players are chosen from casting calls, fan Web sites, karaoke bars and college campuses.
In the first series of episodes, which started airing last month on Tuesday nights, fans became Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez and Blink-182, among others.
New episodes will feature fans' versions of Madonna, Janet Jackson, No Doubt, Sugar Ray and Nelly & amp; The St. Lunatics. Shooting begins in August and the episodes will air in October.

Some of the plots on "Sex and the City" are borrowed from the cast members' lives -- whether they like it or not -- says Davis, who plays Charlotte on the HBO comedy.
"There are certain writers we don't talk to about our personal lives anymore because some of our experiences started showing up in scripts," Davis tells Mademoiselle. "Now, the four of us have a little signal that means, 'Wait till we're in the dressing room.'"
