SANDLOTS Express sweeps to Ruth crowns

The teams won both the 13-year-old and the 14-15 titles.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Express swept the championships of the Youngstown Babe Ruth Baseball League.
The Express 13-year-old team completed an unbeaten season by defeating Astro Falcons 2 games to 0 in the championship series.
The Express won the first game 9-1, as Phillip Besiou pitched a complete game.
Marc Rossi led the Express hitters, going 4-for-4 with a double. David Patrick, who finished with two hits, Jesse D'Amico and Josh Crum all tripled.
In the second game, the Express won with a 19-hit attack. Rossi went 4-for-5 with three doubles and a triple. He went 8-for-9 in the series with five extra base hits and five RBIs. D'Amico, Crum, Ryan Satterlee and Chester Kirkwood all had two hits. Matt Bable was the winning pitcher.
The Express finished the season with a 24-0 record.
14-15 Division: Youngstown Express edged Rondinelli Tuxedo 6-5 in the deciding game of their best-of-3 series to win the 14-15 division championship.
Adam Boris, who went 6-for-12 in the series, had three hits in the finale, including a double. Dan Ford doubled and singled for Rondinelli, which rallied from a 5-1 deficit by scoring four runs in the top of the seventh inning, and Pat Elias also doubled.
Rondinelli won the series opener 7-1 behind Jay Yorty, who pitched a complete-game two-hitter. Matt Madrid doubled and singled for Rondinelli.
Adam Zakowski helped the Express even the series in Game 2, throwing a complete game in a 7-3 victory. He allowed five hits, while striking out five.
Adam Boris, who doubled, and Mark Delisio had three hits each for Express.
The Express, which finished the season with a 20-3 record, defeated Astro Falcons 2 games to 0 in the first round of the playoffs. Rondinelli eliminated East Side Kiwanis 2 games to 0.
All-stars: The Babe Ruth All-Star teams will be in state tournament action starting Saturday. The 15-year old team will play in Zanesville, while the 14-year old and 13-year old squads will be in action in Newark.
