GUILFORD LAKE Divers to look for Middleton Township woman
LISBON -- Searchers are expected to scour Guilford Lake next week for a Middleton Township woman who was last seen June 7.
Volunteer divers from Rescue 40, a search and rescue group based in the county, will conduct the lake search beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Columbiana County Sheriff Dave Smith said.
Divers will be searching for Tracy Hill, 24, or clues to her disappearance.
The 400-acre lake, which is part of Guilford Lake State Park, is being scrutinized partly because Mrs. Hill's estranged husband, Clifford, 32, of Guilford Lake, was found in that area June 18 in possession of a car used by Mrs. Hill.
The car belongs to Mrs. Hill's mother, Linda Zoanne Evans of Holmesville, who told authorities that Hill didn't have her permission to use the vehicle.
Indictment: Hill was indicted earlier this week by a county grand jury on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
He has not been named as a suspect in his wife's disappearance, which Smith said remains a missing person's case until authorities have "evidence to the contrary."
Wednesday's search will mark the second time investigators have probed that area in connection with Mrs. Hill's disappearance.
Days ago, they searched state park outhouses after receiving a tip that a body had been dumped inside one of the facilities.
In late June, authorities and volunteers searched the rugged country around Hill's Sprucevale Road home, which is near state Route 7, south of Rogers. The land there contains abandoned strip mines.
