Coroner: Man who died in woods had a heart attack

HARLANSBURG, Pa. -- Authorities say a man found dead in the woods in Scott Township died of natural causes.
The body of James A. Moore, 73, of RD 1, New Castle, was found around 7 a.m. Thursday about a mile from state Route 956, near the Lawrence County-Butler County border.
Lawrence County Coroner J. Russell Noga said Moore had a heart attack and died while hunting for groundhogs on a farm near his Eastbrook-Harlansburg Road home.
Moore's neighbor, Mike Marshall, said Moore left home around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday and family members became concerned about him when he did not return later that evening.
Marshall said the farmer let Moore hunt groundhogs to keep them from destroying the farmer's crop.
Search dogs, state police and volunteer firefighters were notified about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
Volunteer firefighters from Scott Township, Volant, Hickory Township and the Princeton section of Slippery Rock Township in Butler County spent the early morning hours Thursday looking for Moore.
His body was found about 7 a.m. by a member of his family who was part of the search, Marshall said.
