FRANKLIN, Pa. -- The Musicians' Concert Band, under the direction of Slippery Rock University professor Blase S. Scarnati, will perform the free program "Take Center Stage" at 4 p.m. Sunday in Borrow-Civic Theater in Franklin, Pa. The 100-member concert band's performance is sponsored by the Venango Center for Creative Development. The band's summer concert series continues at 8 p.m. next Thursday and Aug. 9 in Miller Auditorium at the college campus in Slippery Rock. The annual holiday concert is set for 4 p.m. Dec. 2 in Miller Auditorium.
Actress sells home
LOS ANGELES -- Actress Susan Anton has sold her longtime Beverly Hills-area home, which she recently renovated after occasionally leasing it to various celebrities over the years.
"Dudley [Moore] and I owned a house that we sold when we were a couple, but this was the house I bought [in 1984] when we broke up," she said. "It was always my house, but he did make it possible for me."
Moore, who has been suffering from the degenerative disease progressive supranuclear palsy, was still on the title with Anton when the Coldwater Canyon house was sold for about $1.5 million to entertainment attorney Karl Austen of Armstrong, Hirsch, Jackoway, Tyerman and Wertheimer in Century City.
Anton and her husband, Jeff Lester, will mark their ninth wedding anniversary in August. They are leasing in Laurel Canyon while searching for another house to buy in the L.A. area.
hBand breaks curfew
BOULDER, Colo. -- What would you say if Dave Matthews broke curfew?
The University of Colorado fined the musician and his band $15,000 -- $1,000 a minute -- after their concert last week ran 15 minutes past a 10:30 p.m. curfew.
"They tend not to go over curfew that frequently, but they were just having a great time and wanted to keep playing a little longer," band publicist Ambrosia Healy said of the July 11 concert.
She called the $15,000 fine, levied the next day, a "routine" part of touring concerts.
