Board approves placing levy on Nov. ballot

SOUTHINGTON -- The school board approved Tuesday putting a three-year, $200,000 emergency levy on the Nov. 6 ballot for renewal.
The Trumbull County auditor will set the millage, which is adjusted each year.
The board also approved three coaches for the 2001-2002 school year.
Jim Wolke, a health and physical education teacher, will be the new baseball coach. Bill Drury, middle school and social science teacher, will be the golf coach. If there is a junior high football team, Brad Doan, a Kent State University student, will be its coach.
The board also approved a trip to Orlando, Fla., for the softball team to participate in spring games, but a third of the cost must be on deposit in the school treasury by Oct. 1, another third by Dec. 3 and the final third by March 1.
Board member Phil Davis announced he does not plan to run for re-election when his term ends this year. The terms of Penny Hudak and Russ Young also are up, but they intend to run again, Superintendent Bill Pfahler said.
The board's next meeting will be Aug. 14, not the regularly scheduled Aug. 21.
