BASEBALL
Pony (age 13)
Canfield 12, Boardman 5 -- Canfield won the Pony district tournament by also defeating: Struthers, 11-1; Boardman, 10-8; and Salem, 13-4. Canfield advances to the Pony East Zone regional for a game Friday at North Allegheny against the Marietta district champions. Canfield, which also went unbeaten in the Struthers tournament, is managed by John Morris. Team members are Joe Fox, Dan Goske, Jim Gromada, Tom Ivany, Dan Moran, C.J. Morris, Matt Narducci, Joe Rosko, Paul Ruchtie, Kyle Schuchler and Chris Ulery. Coaches are Mike Narducci, Fred Rosko and Bob Schuchler.
Babe Ruth (ages 14-15)
Youngstown Sluggers 7, J & amp;W Crown Limo 0 -- Aaron Pollack scattered six hits in pitching a complete-game shutout in the finale of the Babe Ruth consolation tournament. Michael Brown's three hits included a double while Lou Kopachy hit a two-run homer.
GABF (ages 18-and-younger)
BB Rooners 14, Andy's 9ers 10 -- With the victory, BB Rooners won the Mayor's Invitational in Battlecreek, Mich. BB Rooners had 14 hits in capturing their second straight tournament title this season. They were also the runner-up in the Canadian Classic Wooden Bat tournament in Welland, Ontario.
SOFTBALL
(Traveling ages 14-younger)
Ohio Magic 8, Rattlers 5 -- Magic rallied from a 4-1 deficit to win the championship game of the Lady Spartan NSA Tournament in Poland. In the semifinal game, Magic scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Ohio Ice, 7-6. Magic's other wins were against: TC Sluggers, 7-3; and Raging Thunder, 8-6. Players for Manager Andy Sirak's team are Sarah Albani, Michelle Antonelli, Tricia Bailey, Mollie Boney, C.J. Calabrese, Emily Hays, Stephanie Jarvis, Brittany Sirak, Lauren Sirak, Sarah Stafford, Lauren Whetzel, Lindsay Whetzel and Stephanie Zunic.

Ohio Ice Orange 5, Valley Sting Purple 2 -- The Sting finished tied for third place in the Lady Spartan Fast-Pitch Club Tournament in Poland. Kasey Karr of Champion pitched the Sting to a 6-3 win over Pittsburgh Spirit Black. Jaclyn Carpenter of Champion was the winning pitcher in the 6-5 win over Ohio Ice Orange, the eventual tournament champion. Sting also defeated Ohio Magic, 10-2. Allie Patton of Poland led Sting with eight hits in the weekend games. Carpenter, Ashley Conger of Poland and Lia Gordon of Leavittsburg each had four hits. Sting (50-15) will play in the NSA World Series in Charlotte, N.C.
Valley Sting Green 11, Miami Valley 1 -- Danielle Burin, Kari Thompson, Jennifer Baker, Allison Burr and Amy Downs each had three hits as Sting won the Ohio Emeralds Tournament in North Ridgeville. Markie Pozzuto pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven batters. Jamie Hardie was named MVP. Sting also defeated: Lady Lasers, 8-4 and 6-3; Ohio Emeralds, 9-4; Strongsville, 4-1; and Grand Slam, 5-4.
Canfield Baseball Club (ages 11-12)
Austintown Flower Shoppe 3, Canfield Athletic Boosters 2 -- Jena Ervin's double in the fifth inning knocked in the tying and winning runs in the major girls championship game. Brittany Danilov allowed just one hit over 6 innings for the champions. Tricia Bettura had a triple and tossed a four-hitter for the Boosters. Austintown Flower Shoppe compiled a league-best 15-3 record. Other team members are: Kaitlin Crowe, Lauren Esarco, Ashley Mondora, Jackie Nentwick, Kaitlyn O'Donnell, Courtney Porter, Ashley Shelley, Kristen Stahl, Madisyn Vaclav and Sarah White. Manager Don Shelley's coaches are Doug Stahl and Tom Nentwick.
Mahoning Valley Fast Pitch

Roller Reprographics 6, Western Reserve 1 -- Tana Davis pitched a no-hitter, striking out seven and walked one in seven innings. Andraea Hazel, Jen Ridgeway, Tiffany Baker, Stacey Walley and Carolyn Ross each had two hits for Roller.
