Ambulance company plans benefit

YOUNGSTOWN -- A road tour fund-raiser by a local ambulance company will benefit two Warren firefighters injured in a house fire Dec. 31.
The second annual event will be staged Sunday by Rural/Metro Ambulance employees.
All motorcyclists and other motorists are invited to participate for a $10 fee.
The tour begins at 11:30 a.m. at the company's station on Market Street in Youngstown.
From there, an ambulance tour will stop at the Craig Beach Fire Department, where participants will eat lunch. Other stops include Warren, Hartford and Hubbard fire departments, then back to Youngstown to BW-3 downtown.
Festivities there include a performance by the band Fetish. Band members Sharon Beeman and Debbie Zappia also work for Rural/Metro.
Other area fire departments are participating, including those in Youngstown and Boardman.
Last year's event raised close to $3,000 for Karen Philibin, who had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and works for Rural/Metro. She plans to participate in this year's event.
Warren firefighters Nick Radich and Daryl Anderson were injured during a house fire New Year's Eve.
Both have returned to work.
