Statistics show dropin airline flight delays
Flight delays were down in the first five months of this year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, an agency of the Transportation Department.
For the top 12 domestic carriers, 98,195 flights were more than 15 minutes late from January through May, compared with 123,301 during that period last year.
And the number of flights in that period was up, too, to 2.47 million this year from 2.34 million in 2000, said Dave Smallen, a spokesman for the bureau.
