Petrellas honored for golden jubilee at reception
YOUNGSTOWN -- A celebration took place July 14 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic J. Petrella, 945 S. Belle Vista Ave., on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Arrangements for the observance were made by the couple's children, John J. Petrella of Alexandria, Va.; Nancy Abbott of Craig, Alaska; Julie Hoskins of Youngstown; Dominic Petrella Jr. of Daytona Beach, Fla.; Annamarie Petrella of Campbell; and James Petrella of Tacoma, Wash. Nine grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Petrella and the former Irene Schlereth were married July 21, 1951, at St. Anthony Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired in 1984 from U.S. Steel Co.'s McDonald Mill and in 1989 from Youngstown Thermal, where he was a welder. He is a member of the Elks Club and the Italian-American Veterans Club.
His wife retired in 1998 from her work as a private duty licensed practical nurse. She is a member of the Suburban Garden Club and Hospice of the Valley.
The Petrellas belong to St. Anthony Church and Eagles Club 3298.
