GOLF CLASSIC ACS tri-county men's event set
Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.
HOWLAND -- The American Cancer Society Tri-County Men's Golf Classic is scheduled for Aug. 13 at Avalon Lakes Golf Course.
Tournament fee is $5,000 per foursome and includes 18 holes of golf, valet parking, greens and cart fees, full access to all club facilities, sponsor souvenir gift package, lunch, dinner, awards, reception and beverages. There also will be an auction for a variety of prizes.

Winners of the tournament will be able to advance to the ACS state tournament to be held Sept. 8-10 at Firestone Country Club in Akron. Winners of that event will move up to the national tournament at LaQuinta Resorts & amp; Club and PGA West in LaQuinta, Calif.
This year's honoree will be F.W. "Bill" Knecht of Boardman, chairman and CEO of Wendell August Forge in Grove City, Pa.
Honorary chairman is Herbert F. Schuler Sr., president of General Extrusions Inc., Genex Tool and Die, GEI Corp. of Ohio and GEI of Columbiana Inc. He lives in Hubbard.
In charge: Chairwoman of the event is Amy Noll. Committee vice chairman is Greg Smith Sr., and other vice chairmen are Ray Briya, Marie Scott and Joe Thomas. Ben Witter, long-drive professional golfer will instruct golfers on how to improve their golf drive.
