YOUNGSTOWN -- Fellows Riverside Gardens and Davis Center will close to the public at 2 p.m. Friday for the annual garden party fund-raiser of Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens.
Founders Day
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning Valley Historical Society's second annual Founders Day open house will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 9 at Arms Family Museum of Local History and MVHS Library, 648 Wick Ave. Guests may participate in historical games, crafts, magic shows and an antique auto show, have pictures taken in historical costumes, visit the museum free of charge and preview its newest exhibit, "Far From Home: Stories from Immigrant Children to the Mahoning Valley."
Founded in 1875, MVHS promotes knowledge and discovery of Mahoning Valley history and operates the Arms Museum.
Workshop planned forfirst-time home buyers
YOUNGSTOWN -- Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Youngstown is sponsoring a free First Time Homebuyer Workshop from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Family Service Agency, 535 Marmion Ave.
The free workshop is designed to cover basic home-buying information, such as determining affordability, budget and credit problems, and the application process.
All participants will receive a certificate of attendance that will satisfy the education requirement for some mortgage programs.
