AKRON -- The Summit/Stark Chapter of Aluminum Cans for Burned Children is sponsoring a free burn camp Aug. 5-10 at Akron Rotary Camp on Rex Lake Drive. To be eligible, campers aged 7-17, must have been treated as inpatients for at least three days at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron's Clifford R. Boeckman Regional Burn Center. Needed for studies
PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Center is seeking postmenopausal women for two studies involving parathyroid hormone (PTH), an investigational new medication for the treatment of osteoporosis. Participants must be between the ages of 55 and 85 and not taking estrogen replacement therapy or other prescription osteoporosis medication. They will receive medical evaluations, bone density testing, study medication and calcium and vitamin D supplements at no cost for the 18-month study period and reimbursement for travel expenses. Fund-raising golf event
HUBBARD -- Forum Health Sports Medicine will have its second annual golf outing July 28 at Deer Creek Golf Course in Hubbard. The four-person scramble with a shot-gun start featuring mixed and women's divisions costs $50 per person and $200 for a team. Proceeds will benefit the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Foundation Restricted Funds for Sports Medicine and Pediatric Rehabilitation programs. Golf scramble planned
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Lynn Davis Y-103 Lifetime-Television for Women Golf Scramble will be Aug. 8 at Tam-O-Shanter Golf Course at state Routes 60 and 18. Proceeds will benefit breast cancer patients and will be evenly split between the Mahoning and Mercer County units of the American Cancer Society. The entry fees are $70 per person and $280 per team. Weight-control program

Swimming for funds
Children and teen-agers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties are swimming laps through July 23 at area swim clubs, pools and country clubs to raise money during the annual American Cancer Society Swim-Along. Proceeds will benefit cancer research and cancer patients and will be used for Camp Friendship, a camp for children with cancer. Child immunizations
GIRARD -- The well-child free immunization clinic will be at Girard City Health Department, 100 W. Main St., at 1:30 p.m. July 26. Parents must bring a copy of their child's immunization record and a parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 18. Prepared childbirth
SHARON, Pa. -- The Women's Center of Sharon Regional Health System will have a Prepared Childbirth Class Series review Wednesday and Thursday at the E. J. O'Meara Education Building adjacent to the hospital at 740 E. State St. The classes will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. both days and are designed for those who completed a Prepared Childbirth Series with a previous pregnancy. The fee is $10.
