WARREN --Trumbull County Bar Association members want to make sure that deceased attorneys are not forgotten.
The bar's first memorial service was held Friday in the courtroom of Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. It is to be an annual event.
"It's meant to honor those who have served the legal profession," said Dee Bloom, executive director of the county bar association. "This is the first one we have held but we hope to continue the services annually."
Families invited: Eight attorneys who died in the past 17 m*onths were honored. Their family members were invited to attend.
"We want the family members to know how their loved ones meant to us and how much we will miss them," said Atty. Paul Nader, chairman of the bar's memorial committee.
During the ceremony, a friend or a relative was asked to give a brief presentation detailing the events of the person's life.
Atty. John Masternick noted that his friend Atty. Charles Atkinson was known for having a "good sense of humor."
"He loved to play practical jokes," Masternick said.
A violinist and an accordionist provided music during the hour-long ceremony.
Many judges there: Most of the judges in the county attended.
"This was a group effort," Bloom said. "I think it worked out pretty well."
