BOARDMAN -- Trustees implemented "no parking" restrictions on the north and south sides of Melrose Avenue from Montrose Avenue to the street's dead end, on the recommendation of the township administrator and road department superintendent, after a petition was received from area residents.
Candidate at the fair
BAZETTA -- George "Red" Simmons, a Democratic candidate for Ohio attorney general, will meet with people from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the Trumbull County Fair. Simmons, Geauga County sheriff and an attorney, is the only announced Democratic candidate for next year's attorney general's race.
Filling board vacancy
LORDSTOWN -- Residents interested in filling a vacancy on the board of education may contact board offices at (330) 824-2791. The application deadline is noon Friday. The vacancy was created by last month's resignation of member J.C. Gibson. The school board will meet at 7 p.m. July 24 in the high school media center to interview candidates.
