MICKEY MANTLE Alltel wins pair in state tourney

Alltel tripped Brecksville and the Cuyahoga Falls Jaguars to remain in the winner's bracket.
STRUTHERS -- Alltel rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh inning as it edged Brecksville 6-5 in the Mickey Mantle (16-and-under) state baseball tournament Friday at Cene Park.
Alltel also clipped Cuyahoga Falls Jaguars 4-2, and will continue in the winners bracket as action continues today.
Matt Gerimeta came on in relief in the seventh inning against Brecksville, and pitched shutout ball to pick up the win for Alltel.
Brian Chrobak and Mike Busin each hit a triple for the winners.
Alltel 4, Jaguars 2: Alltel, which out-hit the Jaguars 10-5, scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to snap a 2-2 tie.
Doug Brown, the winning pitcher, and Mike Busin and Ryan Jones all led Alltel with two hits apiece.
Mike Tanner hit a triple and Tim Hughes and Chris Douglas each hit a double.
Youngstown Express 5, Strongsville Stallions 2: Youngstown Express scored two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to prevail.
Jacke Wargacki pitched a three-hitter and Frank Turocy hit a double and drove in two runs for Youngstown Express.
Brandon Drespling and Justin Byler led the Express with two hits apiece. Turocy hit a double and drove in two runs.
Youngstown Propane 11, Andy's 9ers 5: Youngstown Propane, which had 17 hits, scored four runs in the third inning and put the game away with six more in the fifth.
John Zizzo paced Propane with four of those hits.
Cleveland EPI 9, Astro Falcons 8: Astro Falcons battled back from a 7-3 deficit to tie the score at 7-7, but Cleveland EPI scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and the deciding run in the fifth.
Sean Clayton hit a triple and double and drove in two runs for the Falcons.
Boys of Summer 6, Goldsteins 1: Fabulous Goldsteins fell behind 4-1 in the first inning and couldn't recover, as it was held to just four hits.
Astro Falcons 10, Stow 1: Astro Falcons bounced back from its early loss as it scored seven runs in the second inning, then ended the five-inning contest with three more runs in the fourth.
Sean Clayton hit a triple and Chris Trembly a double to spark the Falcons. David Yost allowed only three hits to pick up the mound decision.
Akron Outlaws 1, Youngstown Propane 0: The Akron Outlaws, limited to three hits by losing pitcher Bert Seybert of Youngstown Propane, scored the only run of the contest in the bottom of the third inning.
Winning pitcher Kevin Koloniar held Youngstown Propane to just three hits. Jim Huck tripled home the winning run.
