Army-Navy Union holds encampment

COLUMBUS -- The Department of Ohio Army-Navy Union U.S.A. held its 83rd annual encampment June 21-24 at the University Plaza.
Chairman of the event was James Pantolone of Niles, and co-chairman was William Garono, also of Niles. Also in charge of the event were Dave Berger, past commander, of Tuscarawas County, and Margie Bucci, past auxiliary president, of Niles.
New officers installed at the event included the following: Bill Kramer of Niles, commander; Linda Hartenstein of Canton, auxiliary president; Betty Jo Bidde of Warren, senior vice president; and Corrine Walfer of Canton, junior vice president.
Awards: Garono was honored as Man of the Year, and Woman of the Year was Shirley Wohlford of Akron.
Representing local Auxiliary 29 at the event were Nancy Weimer, Pat Baun and Jackie Baun.
The national convention will be held Aug. 10 in Sandusky.
