Babe Ruth (ages 14-15)
Youngstown Express 11, Astro Falcons 2 -- Adam Zakowski pitched a complete game, scattering seven hits, and went 3-for-4, driving in two runs, to lead the Express. Andy Todor had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Aaron Boris, Mark Delisio, Adam Boris and Dom Modarelli all singled twice. Joe Murray doubled and singled for Astros. Joe McHenry singled twice and Ryan Betts doubled.
Youngstown Express 9, Astro Falcons 3 -- John Mang had two hits, including one that drove in two runs to key a six-run, sixth-inning rally, and pitched a complete game, as Express won the playoff series. Adam Zakowski had a two-run double in the rally, and Mike Eliseo singled twice. Mo Hassen went 3-for-3 and hit two doubles for Astros.
SOFTBALL
Tri-T Pony (ages 13-14)
Canfield Southeastern Equipment 5, Mill Creek Marlowes Coffee 3 -- Abby Tierney had three hits while C.J. Calabrese, Julie Cooper and Kerrie Haurin had two each. Ashley Bleggi was the winning pitcher. For Marlowes, Danielle Spencer and Gina Brunetti each had two hits.
Canfield Southeastern Equipment 11, Mill Creek Marlowes Coffee 7 -- Winning pitcher C.J. Calabrese struck out nine batters as Canfield swept the Tri-T playoff series. Stephanie Zunic reached base five times. Her three hits included two doubles. Katie Williams and Kerrie Haurin each had two singles. For Marlowes, Gina Brunetti had two doubles while Victoria Steiner had two singles.
Austintown Senior Girls -- A.E.A won its sixth straight league championship as it finished the season with a 21-0 record, including a 13-4 victory over Robert Senn in the final game. Members of the team were Sarah Gagliano, Nicole Moschella, Lyndsay Pollock, Sarah Pritchard, Lyra Bezeredi, Sara Roth, Kari Brothers, Cookie Chianese, Shannon Hians, Cathy Nichols, Kim Singiser, Hannah Bezeredi and Brittany Hians. The manager was Lou Cagliano and assistants were Bob Pollock, Mickey Hians and Larry Roth.
