BASEBALL
All-Star teams (ages 13-14)
Boardman 12, Salem 3 -- Mike Baharis threw a complete game seven-hitter and hit a three-run homer. Nate Tascik hit a two-run homer, Jim Hleback had four hits and Josh Moffie contributed three.
Tri-T Pony (ages 13-14)
Struthers St. Anthony's 6, Salem Sky Bank 5 -- Skylar Slavik had three hits and Ryan Spatholt had two for Struthers (19-2).
Babe Ruth (ages 14-15)
Sluggers 7, I.P.S. 2 -- Josh McKenney was the winning pitcher and Tyler Stanley earned the save. Stanley had three hits and McKenney added two. Lou Kopachy tripled and Brian Kopachy doubled.
SOFTBALL
Pony (ages 13-14)
Canfield Southeastern Equipment 8, Boardman Option Care 4 -- C.J. Calabrese hit two three-run homers while Stephanie Zunic's two hits included a double. For Boardman, Alison Sfara's three hits included two doubles. Alyssa Calautti had two hits.
Mill Creek Marlowe's Coffee 5, Mill Creek Sandwich Factory 1 -- Stefanie Zizzo had three hits as Marlowe's advanced to the championship game. Gina Brunetti tripled while Justine Klopta struck out 11 batters. For Sandwich Factory, Nicole Smaldino doubled.
Traveling (ages 11-12)
Pittsburgh Spirit Gold 11, Valley Sting Green 0 -- The Sting finished runner-up in the Pittsburgh Pony Tournament. In the Sting's 2-0 win over Beaver County Hornets, Caitlyn Youngs pitched a no-hitter. Sting also defeated: New York Bad Apples, 2-0; and Boardman Magic, 7-1. Danielle Burin had three hits and three RBIs in the Magic game. Sting also lost to: Beaver County Hornets, 5-4; and Pittsburgh Spirit Gold, 3-2. Laura Henry and Markie Pozzuto were Sting pitchers while Kari Thompson and Kim Calderwood had key hits.
