Ex-murder target charged with domestic violence
GIRARD -- A Brookfield man who was once the target of a murder-for-hire scheme is bound over to the Trumbull County grand jury on a charge of domestic violence.
Charles Serafino, 46, of Bedford Road, waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday before municipal Judge Michael Bernard.
He remains in the county jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
Brookfield police Detective Mike Begeot said Serafino assaulted his live-in female friend July 3 at the Save-a-Step convenience store on Youngstown-Hubbard Road.
Four men were convicted in the July 1995 shooting death of Serafino's mother, Ann Serafino, and Serafino's wounding.
Evidence showed that a man hired three others to kill Serafino in a dispute over a landscaping business. Mrs. Serafino was shot only because she was home when the gunmen attacked. Serafino survived six gunshot wounds.
