Dog dies in fire at Youngstown home
YOUNGSTOWN -- The cause of a fire that heavily damaged a 21/2 story frame residence at 1334 Florencedale Ave. Tuesday evening is under investigation, said Fire Capt. James Barber.
Because a car was in the driveway, witnesses concerned that someone might be inside the residence initially surrounded the house, yelling to determine whether anyone would respond. Nobody was home when the fire erupted, causing an estimated $25,000 damage to the house and $10,000 damage to its contents. A dog died in the fire.
Fire Capt. Michael Durkin was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The occupant, Tina Nemeth, was at work at the time. The house is owned by Sean Devlin.
Barber said the fire, reported at 8:27 p.m., does not appear to be suspicious.
