G.A.B.F. (18-under)
BB Rooners 8, Smithtown, N.Y. 3 -- Nolan Reimold's two home runs and double led the Rooners to the title in the 42-team Beast of the East Tournament in Wheeling, W. Va. Reimold was named tournament MVP and Ben Barnett was the winning pitcher, with relief help from Dave Fleischer.
Jeff Hehr also had three hits.
In the semifinal game, Rooners defeated the Virginia Mudcats, 8-0, as Matt Hundley tossed a four-hitter.
Rooners (44-6) also had wins over teams from: Maynard; Long Island, N.Y.; Westland, Mich.; and Pasadena, Md.
Pony (ages 13-14)
Lowellville Falcon Foundry 9, Columbiana Sports Scene 5 -- Rickie Schrader had three hits, stole six bases and drove in three runs for Lowellville.
Luke Packner had three hits while Matt Wolfe tripled.
For Columbiana, Brad Brancroft had two hits and scored twice. Michale Crook also scored two runs.
Traveling All-Stars (ages 12-younger)
Poland Blue 16, Canfield Red 2 -- Corey Gruelle hit a grand slam and a double for Poland in the Springfield Classic Tournament.
Jerrid Morrel and Brad Broker also homered while Mike Rubesa had two hits. Matt McElroy was the winning pitcher.
