Zabas honored at celebration of 50th anniversary
STRUTHERS -- Mr. and Mrs. John "Red" Zaba of 250 Smithfield St., were honored July 7 at a dinner at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Sam Pitzulo of Canfield, in observance of their golden wedding anniversary.
Two grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Zaba and the former Darlene Helsel were married July 7, 1951, at St. John the Baptist Slovak Church in Campbell. He retired in 1985 from Metal Carbides, where he was employed for 32 years as a leadman in the preform department. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and is a member of VFW Post 3538.
His wife retired in 1993 after 22 years as a cashier for the Struthers City Schools. She belongs to VFW Post 3538 Auxiliary.
The Zabas are members of St. Nicholas Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and Infant of Prague Guild.
