Pool safety program

Pool safety program
HOWLAND -- Township firefighters are determined to crash your block party. Members of the department are inviting themselves to neighborhood gatherings this summer to present a 15-minute program on pool safety. So far, three parties are on their list. "It gives them an opportunity to see what we have to offer," said Shawn Bryant, a firefighter who runs the department's special operations division. During the program, he encourages parents to think about how they are monitoring their pool and whom to call in an emergency. He also recommends CPR classes and talks about rescue techniques. As a bonus, children get to examine ambulances and fire engines driven to the home by firefighters.
