BRISTOL LIBRARY Children pack their bags for reading adventures

A professional ventriloquist will be on hand July 16.
BRISTOLVILLE -- With library cards as passports, children are preparing to embark on a summer reading adventure.
Bristol Public Library is gearing up to offer three adventures between July 16 and Aug. 17.
Preschool children ages 3 to 5 will "Take a Library Safari" through the lands of elephants, tigers and lions.
Children who recently finished grades 1 to 4 will explore far away destinations through books and activities as they "Read Around the World."
Those who just finished grades 5 and 6 will don their sombreros and "Reach for the World" through reading explorations south of the border.
Appearance: A highlight of the summer reading program will be a guest appearance by Mark Wade, a professional ventriloquist, recently named "America's Foremost Children's Ventriloquist" by his peers.
His "Summer Reading Safari Show will be at the library at 2 p.m. July 16. It will feature puppets including "Matilda," the world's only talking kangaroo, and "Peking the Panda," a native of China.
Wade in the past was named "International Ventriloquist of the Year" and has appeared on "CBS Evening News," "Entertainment Tonight," and "Disney's One Saturday Morning."
An interpreter for the hearing impaired will be provided upon request for the programs.
