Charged in beating
WARREN -- Police have charged Eugene Russ, 40, of 2007 Hamilton St. S.W. in the beating of a juvenile Wednesday morning.
Police reports say Russ struck a boy several times in the legs with a large stick in front of the boy's Nevada Northwest residence.
He faces one count of felonious assault in the attack and two counts of child endangering because, police say, Russ left his 6-year-old daughter home alone when he went to attack the boy.
The juvenile told officers he does not know Russ. There was no indication on the report what prompted the attack.

Firefighters found a burner on the stove had been left on, but that wasn't the source of the fire. The blaze started in the front living room, firefighters said. They were able to confine the flames to that room, but there was extensive smoke, heat and water damage. The building is owned by Thomas Sanford of South Oakland Avenue and is insured.
