Man reports purchase of false stock

AUSTINTOWN -- A Mineral Ridge man contacted police here after learning he had purchased $1,000 in stock for a company that didn't exist.
The man said in April that a Marietta man called him and offered to sell $1,000 in stock in "Future Electric." The two closed the deal at a truck stop restaurant in Austintown.
The Mineral Ridge man later called a stock exchange broker to see how much the stock was worth. The broker told the man that the company didn't exist.
