Local rock band The Deep will perform during the seventh annual Pittsburgh Blues Festival at Pittsburgh Brewing Co., 3340 Liberty Ave. The Deep's appearance at 3 p.m. July 21 is the band's prize for winning a band contest recently at Moondog's, a Pittsburgh area blues club. The teen-age members of The Deep, from Boardman and New Castle, are two-time winners of the Mountain Dew High School Rock Off in Cleveland.
The blues festival will be over three days. Proceeds benefit Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Headliners will be The Fabulous Thunderbirds on July 20; Southside Johnny & amp; the Asbury Jukes, July 21; and Koko Taylor & amp; Her Blues Machine, July 22. Call (412) 460-BLUE for information.
CityFest rescheduled
YOUNGSTOWN -- CityFest 2001 on Federal Plaza has been rescheduled for Aug. 17 to 19. An amusement ride company recently went out of business, so a new agreement had to be reached with another firm, Federal Plaza director Tamica Green said. Festival hours will be from noon to 11 p.m. daily.
