New Middletown water tank undergoes exterior painting
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Consumers Ohio Water Co. has started a $286,000 maintenance project on the New Middletown water storage tank on Struthers Road behind the village municipal building.
Keystone Painting Co. of McDonald, Pa., will paint the exterior of the tank and the New Middletown logo on the tank, as well as make minor repairs. The tank will not be taken out of service during the six-week project, so water service should not be affected, COWC officials said in a news release.
Water storage tanks are typically painted every 12 to 15 years, the water company says. The tank's interior was repainted in 1999.
As part of a lease agreement with the village, COWC operates and maintains the New Middletown water system.
COWC is a subsidary of one of the nation's largest investor-owned water utilities -- Philadelphia Suburban Corp. in Bryn Mawr, Pa. -- and serves 250,000 people in 42 Ohio communities. The company's Struthers Division provides service for more than 50,000 people in the Mahoning Valley.
