BOARDMAN Tracking blight

Eyesores that township residents complained about in The Vindicator's initial "Beyond the Blight" series, and the status of each case:
Fruit stand, Lockwood Boulevard and Shields Road: Razed before the series appeared, cooperative effort among the property owner, the township and a private contractor.
Three individual properties, 100 block of Shields Road: Township sent notice to one property for trash around a bin before series and violation was cleaned up. Had been an ongoing problem. Other properties violated no zoning codes.
Vacant gas station lot, U.S. Route 224 at Glenwood Avenue: Sale of property is pending, with legal action possible. Look of property not a zoning violation. Yellow cords erected at request of police to keep teens from congregating there.
Abandoned gas station, Indianola Road at Southern Boulevard: Township working for a year, recently hired an Akron law firm specializing in environmental issues because of underground tanks, hoping to force the owners to clean up the site.
Individual property, Hitchcock Road: Property owner contacted last summer about a variety of housing maintenance violations. Problems corrected.
Individual property, Walker Mill Road at Sigle Lane: Property owner contacted about cutting the grass on a right-of-way before series appeared. Grass was cut.
Commercial building, Market Street at Ridgewood Drive: Inside of building is an eyesore, with stained paper falling from the windows, but not a zoning violation.
Vacant corner, Washington Boulevard at Market Street: Two vacant lots. Sale is pending on one. The other is undeveloped. Grass does not have to be cut on undeveloped lots.
Individual property, Colleen Drive: Rusted fence is sound. Classic car has historical license plate and is legal. Property owner contacted after the series appeared about broken window on a pickup truck. Owner has agreed to fix window by next week.
Individual property, South Avenue: Ongoing case. Property owner contacted last fall, asked and was granted an extension until spring on cleaning up debris. Progress made, but owner sent another notice since the series appeared.
Individual property, Turnberry Drive: Last year property owner contacted about a tent in front of garage and toys in the yard. Violation eliminated.
Litter, Interstate 680 at Mathews Road: Nearby plaza owners cited last February for trash blowing out of bins. Trash cleaned up.
