Training completed
Several area residents completed basic military training. They include:
U Navy: Gregg Veauthier (Struthers High School '01), son of Jean and Cal Veauthier, Struthers, completed basic training and is now attending air traffic control school in Pensacola, Fla.
U Air Force: Air Force Airman 1st Class Robert N. McCoy (Chalker High School, Southington '01), son of William McCoy, 2126 Barclay-Messerly Road, Southington.
TRAINING
Army, Air Force
Several area residents completed advanced military training. They include:
U Army: Reserve Pvt. Daniel F. Boyle graduated from the automated logistical specialist advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Lee, Va. He is a son of Linda K. Knotts, Mineral Ridge, and graduated in 2001 from Niles McKinley High School.
U Air Force: Senior Airman Mary A. Magaw graduated from a five-week Airman Leadership School at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. The course is required before being promoted to the rank of staff sergeant.
Magaw is a Global Hawk ground segment system administrator assigned to the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron at Edwards. She is a daughter of Caroline M. Carbone, 1215 Crescent St., Ellwood City, Pa., and a 1995 graduate of Lawrence County Area Vocational High School, New Castle, Pa.
PROMOTIONS
Coast Guard
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Coast Guard Lt. Junior Grade Aaron J. Ortenzio was promoted to his current rank while stationed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter WMEC Ascusnet based at Ketchikan, Alaska. He is a 1996 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a 2000 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy. He is a son of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Ortenzio, New Middletown.
