Ground zero's prayers
NEW YORK -- "May we live each day according to the Good News of the gospel rather than the bad news of the moment." So reads part of a prayer for the sixth Sunday after Sept. 11, a prayer recited in a small, historical United Methodist church a few blocks from where the World Trade Center once stood.
Prayers offered by the Rev. James McGraw, pastor of John Street United Methodist Church, in the 10 weeks following the terror attacks have been collected into a book, "Prayers from Ground Zero."
Copies cost $10 and can be ordered from Literature Sales, Board of Global Ministries, 475 Riverside Drive, Room 1358, New York, NY 10115. Checks should be payable to GBGM-UMC. Call (212) 870-3761.
