MERCER, PA. Transfer man faces jail in accident that hurt 3
Others were sentenced by the court.
MERCER, Pa. -- A Transfer man has been sentenced to consecutive jail terms and a one-year license suspension Friday for causing a traffic accident that injured three people.
Judge Francis Fornelli sentenced Matthew Rossi, 21, of Carrier Road, to 48 hours to one year in jail for driving while intoxicated and 30 days to one year for causing an accident with injuries.
He was also fined $500. The accident, which occurred on state Route 358, West Salem Township, on June 30, injured Charles and Nancy Langer and Scott Redfoot.
Christopher Skubish, 21, of 12th Street, Greenville, was sentenced to two weeks to two years minus one day in jail for misdemeanor theft from a motor vehicle for two incidents last April.
He entered a vehicle at East Silver Street and Vine Avenue, Sharon, with several other people and stole a compact disc stereo player, assorted CDs, a CD holder and a check book, all valued at $700.
He also entered another vehicle at 538 Lorain St., Sharon, and took $600 worth of tools.
Also sentenced Friday were:
UJoseph Brest, 33, of Shenango Street, Greenville, to two years' probation for misdemeanor theft for stealing several CDs from an apartment on Shenango Street, Greenville, Feb. 19.
UShalion Brockman, 24, of Parke Drive, Hermitage, to two months to two years minus one day in jail for felony retail theft for stealing two sound telephones worth $16 from the Family Dollar Store, 100 S. Water Ave., Sharon. She has seven previous shoplifting convictions and another retail theft charge pending.
UCraig Burger, 33, of Oak Leaf Estates, West Middlesex, to one month to one year in jail for felony theft, selling a stove, refrigerator, two hutches and an entertainment center belonging to his grandmother's estate for $200. He was given credit for eight days served.
UElise Burks, 33, of Pittsburgh, to four years' probation for felony retail theft for stealing a digital cordless phone worth $300 from the Sony Outlet Store, 1911 Grove City Leesburg Road, Springfield Township. Burks has 13 earlier shoplifting convictions.
UTony Evangelista, 33, formerly of Youngstown and now of Houma, La., to four years' probation for retail theft and fleeing and eluding, both misdemeanors, for stealing a $164 DVD player from Wal Mart, 2300 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, in June 2000, then fleeing when police chased him.
