BOYS ROUNDUP Potters defeat Olmsted



EAST LIVERPOOL -- Josh Reed scored 24 points, and Brett Green added 20 to lead East Liverpool to an 80-61 victory over Olmsted Falls on Friday in the first round of the Potter Holiday Classic.
East Liverpool (7-1) will face Toledo St. John in the championship game tonight at 8. St. John defeated Cincinnati St. Xavier 69-64 in the other game.
Scott Scales added 13 points for the Potters, while Shawn Walton and Roosevelt Kirby each grabbed nine rebounds.
Olmsted Falls (4-2), which was led by Dan Binggeli's 16 points, will play St. Xavier in the consolation game tonight at 6.
Beaver Local 82, Lisbon 46: LISBON -- Pat Woods, Tim Pancake, Derek Smith and Jake Robinson scored 20, 15, 14 and 14 points, respectively, for the Beavers.
Freshman Brett Young had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Lisbon, which fell behind 24-8 after eight minutes and 44-20 at the break.
Andrew Burtyk hit for 13 points and Brian Hanolt had 10 more for the Blue Devils.
Minerva 64, West Branch 42: BELOIT -- Dirk Hollar flipped in 14 points, while Boo Schafer tacked on 10 as Minerva (5-2, 4-1) rolled behind a balanced scoring attack in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
Robert Stull had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead West Branch (3-4, 3-2).
Southern 64, East Liverpool Christian 26: EAST LIVERPOOL -- Southern jumped out to a 37-6 lead after three quarters and coasted past East Liverpool Christian.
Southern (3-3) held its opponents to just two points in each of the first three periods. Southern was led by Brad Grusdecki with 17 points, while Josh Diaz added 15.
Grand Valley 61, Bloomfield 39: ORWELL -- Drew Vetter scored 18 points and Greg Moyer added 13 to lead Grand Valley past Bloomfield.
Chad Shipman scored nine points to lead Bloomfield. Grand Valley (3-4) put the game away with a 22-9 edge in the fourth quarter.
