Local in Roses Parade
SALEM -- Jason Michael Toth, son of Al and Julie Toth of Salem, and a cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., will march in the 113th Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena, Calif.
The parade attracts an estimated 350 million television viewers in more than 80 countries along with nearly one million curbside spectators.
Toth graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown in 1999. He will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army upon graduation from the academy in 2003.
Agency receives award
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County ON TASC is one of six agencies in Ohio to receive an exemplary prevention award from the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.
ON TASC, a program of the Mahoning County Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, provides training services for treatment counselors.
It is now eligible for national recognition by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention in Washington, D.C.
