Jobless rates increasein Mahoning Valley
YOUNGSTOWN -- Unemployment rates rose in the Mahoning Valley in November.
Mahoning County's jobless rate was 5.9 percent last month, compared with 5.6 percent in October and 5 percent in November 2000. Youngstown's rate was 10.4 percent last month, compared with 9.8 percent in October and 9 percent in November 2000.
In Trumbull County, the jobless rate last month was 5.2 percent, up from 4.9 percent in October and 4.7 percent in November 2000.
Columbiana County's rate was 5.4 percent last month, compared with 5 percent in October and 4.8 percent in November 2000.
Ohio's unemployment rate in November was 4.7 percent.
Electric scootersoffered free at mall
BOARDMAN -- First Choice Mobility is offering free use of electric scooters for the elderly and disabled at the Southern Park Mall. The scooters are available at the information center through Monday.
Mark Sarko, company president, said he has been offering the scooters this month for $5 an hour but now is offering them at no charge as a gesture of good will to the community. His company sells and services scooters.
