Newton Falls uses foul line, rally in final period to win
HUBBARD -- The Newton Falls High boys basketball team made 14 of 17 free throw attempts in the final quarter Friday to defeat Hubbard 68-58 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
The Eagles led 43-41 after three quarters but the Tigers (6-0, 3-0) used a 27-point fourth to register the win.
John Sekora scored 16 points but none in the final quarter for Newton Falls, while Jeff Stanley hit eight of his 14 points in the last eight minutes.
Eric Lance made seven of his 13 points in the final session for the Tigers, while Marty Hutchinson tallied half of his 12 in the same spell.
Jason Lenzi hit for 19 points and Kevin Libeg scored 14 points for the Eagles.
