New Year's Eve concert
NORTH LIMA -- Two groups will sing at North Lima Mennonite Church on New Year's Eve at 7:30 p.m. The Brainards, who were invited to perform at this year's National Quartet Convention, will be the featured group. Also appearing will be Heirline, a male duet from Michigan.
A Swiss steak dinner will be available at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Proceeds from the meal will help support international missionary work. Both the dinner and the concert are provided for a free-will offering. Call (330) 547-2333.
New Year's services
NORTH JACKSON -- The National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon will have New Year's Eve services Dec. 31 that include: 5:30 p.m., Vigil Mass; 9 p.m., the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary will be recited; 9:30 p.m., the Sorrowful Mysteries; 10 p.m., Mass, followed by the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction. At midnight, all are invited to greet the New Year with coffee and light refreshments. The New Year's Day Mass will be at 10 a.m.
Holiday concert
BOARDMAN -- St. Charles Borromeo Parish will present a Holiday Concert at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 30. An offering will be taken for Beatitude House. Featured will be two local tenors, John Camuso and Craig Raymaley, the St. Charles Borromeo Chorale, soprano Amanda Beagle, and soprano Dorota Sobieska accompanied by her husband, Jacek Sobieski on piano, and their daughter, Wanda Sobieska on violin. The program will include works of Handel, Schubert and Bizet.
Christmas music
WARREN -- First Church of the Nazarene will have a Christmas musical presentation titled "Love Has Come and Peace Is With Us" with a live band at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Holiday events
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Club Fusion, for people in grades seven through college, will meet for a "Holiday Blowout" from 8 to 11 p.m. Dec. 29 at Calvary Temple. The band, Them Bowmans, consisting of Blaine and Christine Bowman and their children Tiffany and Luke, will perform at 7 p.m. Jan. 1. Call (724) 658-4777.
Ordination set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Minister Angela D. Strozier will be ordained to the office of elder at 6 p.m. Sunday in Bethel Lighthouse Ministries. Strozier has been a 10-year member of the church.
Watch night service
YOUNGSTOWN -- Union, Antioch and Tabernacle Baptist churches will have a watch night service at 9 p.m. Dec. 31 at Union Baptist Church.
Dinner and service
AUSTINTOWN -- West Austintown First United Methodist Church will have a watch night casserole dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 31, followed by games. A Communion service will be at midnight.
Special speaker
BOARDMAN -- The Rev. Norman E. Crewson will speak at Boardman United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Dec. 30. He retired in 1986 after serving as senior pastor at the church for 22 years.
