Wilson leads Westminster to third in row
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Newton Falls High graduate Joe Wilson had 16 points and 11 rebounds, to help lead the Westminster College basketball team to an 80-59 victory over Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
Wilson, a 6-foot-4 junior forward, totaled his output on 7-for-10 shooting. It was his first career double-double.
Jeff Simmons added 13 points and Greg Foster 10 for the Titans (5-4), who won their third straight. South Range High graduate Chris Hatch scored two points in 12 minutes.
Mount Union 81, John Carroll 61: UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- Todd Richards scored 18 points and Ron Powers had 12 for the Purple Raiders (8-1, 4-1 Ohio Athletic Conference).
Women: ALLIANCE -- Poland High graduate Allie Graf scored a game-high 18 points in Mount Union's 65-62 loss to John Carroll.
Ashley Bourdeau added 12 points for the Purple Raiders (4-7, 2-3 OAC).
Boardman High graduate Julie Cerimele had eight points and seven rebounds, while Woodrow Wilson's Dana Robinson had seven points and seven rebounds, to aid Mount Union.
