WARREN -- William Jobe, whose examination of Trumbull County Sheriff Thomas Altiere's campaign finances ended with hearings before Ohio Election Commission, is now on the election commission agenda himself.
The Trumbull County Board of Elections has filed a complaint against Jobe for submitting pre-general election campaign finance reports one day late during his unsuccessful bid for Howland trustee.
The case will be heard by the commission Thursday
Car break-ins
HUBBARD -- City police report a rash of car break-ins in the past two days. A police spokesman said money and CDs were taken from seven cars. Most of the cars were left unlocked.
Being arraigned
NILES -- Two men and a woman have been charged with receiving stolen property.
Christopher N. Hake, 29, of DePot Street, Niles; Denise D. Miller, 23, of Edgehill Drive, Howland; and Brian A. Mazzella, 29, Todd Avenue, Girard, were scheduled for arraignment today in municipal court.
Patrol Officer Ricky Wilson reported that he stopped a pickup truck on Belmont Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday. Building materials and equipment found in the truck bed were linked to materials and tools reported stolen from a Weathersfield Township construction site.
The items were later identified by the owners.
Safety forces drill
MINERAL RIDGE -- Police forces from Weathersfield Township, Girard, McDonald and Niles and fire departments from the township and Niles conducted a rapid deployment drill Tuesday.
Weathersfield police Capt. Joseph Consiglio and Fire Chief Randy Pugh told trustees the safety forces were deployed to Mineral Ridge High School as if there were a real crisis.
Pugh noted that eight firefighters spent five hours at the drill. The deployment force went up to the door of the high school but did not enter the school.
No December meeting
VIENNA -- Mathews Board of Education has canceled its December meeting. The next meeting will be Jan. 9 at the board office, 4434-B. Warren-Sharon Road, beginning with a budget hearing at 6:30 p.m., an organizational meeting at 6:45 and a regular meeting after that.
YMCA plans classes
WARREN -- The Trumbull County YMCA will start a new session of youth and adult classes the week of Jan. 7.

Classes include swimming, water aerobics, exercise for arthritis, step aerobics, dance aerobics, kickboxing, gymnastics, Christian aerobics and noontime fitness programs.
Meeting changed
HOWLAND -- The township trustees meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. Dec. 26 has been moved to Dec. 27 at 11 a.m.
Income survey
GIRARD -- Volunteers will canvass the Parkwood Avenue area with an income survey between Dec. 31 and Jan. 10.
The survey is needed as a preliminary step for the city to apply to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a $300,000 grant for infrastructure improvements.
Public meetings to discuss needed improvements will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 9 and Jan. 23 in the Girard Multi-Generational Center, the former Tod Woods School, 443 Trumbull Ave.
No zoning hearing
HUBBARD -- A public hearing set for Dec. 27 on an application by James and Susan Watson for a zoning change has been canceled. The Watsons have withdrawn their request.
'Forgiveness time'
KINSMAN -- The Kinsman Free Public Library is conducting "forgiveness time."
There will be no fine on overdue items returned through Dec. 31.
The offer does not include videos, DVDs, pre-existing fines or materials that a patron may have been billed for replacement.
