Campbell takes off against Rockets, 78-45



The Red Devils improved to 2-4. Lowellville dropped to 0-6.

CAMPBELL -- Campbell was missing two starters going into its game against Lowellville on Tuesday. However, a big second quarter by the Red Devils gave Campbell a 78-45 victory over the Rockets.
Campbell was missing its leading scorer, Terrell Harris, and Anthony Wright, but Mohammad Awad scored 19 and Robert Armstrong had 18 points with 13 rebounds, while Jerry Smith added 10 points for the Red Devils (2-4).
Harris was out with an ankle injury, while Wright has a groin pull.
"We played hard and did a lot of good things tonight," Campbell coach Bob Fick said. "I hope we can build on this. A lot of guys stepped up and played well for us when we needed it."
Joe Shuluga led Lowellville with 14 points and six rebounds, while Don Packner added 12 points and four assists for the Rockets (0-6).
Surge: After leading by just two points, 16-14, after the first quarter, Campbell outscored the Rockets 22-8 in the second frame to take a 38-22 lead at the half.
Armstrong connected for eight points in the quarter and scored 14 in the first half. Mike Hardin scored all eight of his points in the first half as the Red Devils connected on 16-of-29 shots (52 percent) from the floor.
The third quarter had Awad score 12 of his points for Campbell.
The senior hit on 6-of-8 shots from the field in the quarter as the Red Devils took a 59-35 lead after three.
Campbell dominated the boards 51-23, while the Red Devils had 21 turnovers to 16 for Lowellville. Ali Awad had four assists and five steals for Campbell.
Campbell hopes to have Harris and Wright back for its game Friday at Struthers.
